Review of Master and Commander: The Far Side of the World (2003) by Luke P — 23 Oct 2013
A "throwback" movie in all senses but yet refreshing! Life on a warship like this in the Napoleonic wars was hard, apt for only the tough ones, yet, behind the toughness, they were also humans.
Captain Aubrey, a strict nonsensical task master, found ways to to keep his crew disciplined and motivated for their survival of warfare by building on two key elements of human relationships, trust and loyalty.
Russel Crowe was brilliant in this role, a true master and commander.
