Review of Master and Commander: The Far Side of the World (2003) by Rotten T — 06 Sep 2009
What can I say? The locations are exotic and beautiful, and the film contains some of the best acting Russel Crowe's ever done. The film is well-directed and the acting all around is superb. Just the sheer brilliance of director Peter Weir's adaptation of life on uncharted seas and the rawness of the ship-vs-ship battles have enough intrigue to last the entire 2 and a half hours of the film.
It's a shame that "Master and Commander" only won two of ten Oscar nominations back in 2003. It's a fantastic film.
