Excellent movie. How is it that Russel Crowe can play an english captain and a roman soldier with an austrailian accent...and still makes sense somehow. He's a great actor. And this movie is no different, a great performance.

I loved the story. History movies are the best. We don't often get to see a war movie that is strictly at sea. But it did happen so often over the years. One main reason why it is tough to make these movies is quite obvious, they are set at sea. This movie does an amazing job with making you think you out there in the open water...right in the battle.

The sea tatics to battle are very interesting, and they are presented very well in this film. I was very interested in the ranking system of the officers. Having a teenager in some cases order around 50 year old men is very neat to see. The officer system was different back then. Nobles were made into officers, siblings and children of war heroes were officers in training.

It took a lot of courage to be on these ships during war time. Some people had it, and some didn't. This film showed both sides of the spectrum. Great movie, very well done and very well acted.
