Review of Master and Commander: The Far Side of the World (2003) by Alister M — 12 Mar 2012
Well, I should write a review of one of my favouroite movie of all time. It changes alot but after watching this recently again, I have to say this is one best movie ever made in my opinion. It won 2 Academy Awards (Best Sound Editing & Best Cinematography).
The story is about a ship commanded by Russell Crowe & after his ship gets attack, he goes out to seek that ship & attack back. Simple plot but the performances, sequences & over-all quality of action makes this a great movie.
Firstly, this movie has Russell Crowe, movie legend, Oscar winning Australian actor. He is also my favourte actor ever. That makes this movie even better. His performance is incredible & I'm surprised he didn't win an Oscar for this role. Not many actors have the aura & talent that Russell Crowe has. The other actors perform well too, especially Paul Bettany, someone I'm starting to pay attention to more often.
The special effects used for the explosions and action scenes are awesome, possibly the best ever in a movie. Movies about ships being attacked & sailing the seven seas are usually great moves & this one reigns supreme.
What more can I say about this movie? It's excellent in everyway imaginable. I heard Russell Crowe is wanting a sequel to this movie. I definately agree. They should start it now!
