Every single time I watch this movie, I happen to love it even more. It is a true masterpiece and it does not only arouse fascination but also respect. Peter Weir didn't do a good job. He did a perfect job.

One of the things that struck me was how memorable and endearing the characters are. However, it's even harder to keep them together and Peter Weir didn't just make these people interesting he managed to keep them alive until the end, never forgetting each and everyone so they might all get a fair share in the story.

Some might think that it's a bad thing to give the characters a bigger importance than the storyline, well I disagree for "Master And Commander" since the crew's psychology gradually gains the upper hand. It was a bold but clever move.

Talking bout boldness: you have to give this movie a lot of credit. After all, they rebuilt all the ships, went to incredible locations and managed to create the perfect and unique atmosphere that was required to make it believable. It was a huge project and in my opinion also a huge success.
