Master and commander: The far side of the world is indeed an epic attempt from Peter Weir, the director of Truman Show, but was overlooked mostly due to another epic, LOTR: Return of the king. Not only is it packed with action, but it also portrays the life of the crew and it's leaders in the most realistic way despite being adapted from a fiction book. Yet again the pair of Russel Crowe and Paul Bettany has succeeded in providing top notch performances. Peter Weir's direction, the cinematography( especially this) and the sound editing are the best features of the film.
