Review of Master and Commander: The Far Side of the World (2003) by Tony F — 23 Jul 2010
Despite somewhat playing second fiddle to another movie released that year with another Captain Jack, this film still managed to garner enough attention to be nominated for Best Picture. Russell Crowe is great, but the real star of the film is the amazing cinematography and the stellar script, as well as the direction of Peter Weir.
This really feels like old school Hollywood writing which isn't always a good thing, but here it definitely is.
