Like many of Altman's films the first hour is a meandering series of anecdotes and only after do we find anything resembling a storyline- which is also a meandering series of anecdotes - ultimately funny, engaging and completely bonkers.
Altman's MASH while off-putting in its completely off the wall humor still a real smash of a picture.
