Review of M*A*S*H (1970) by Crystal M — 07 Jul 2008
While I thought both the premise and the interesting characters had potential, it was far too episodic, full of gaps, and missed a great opportunity to really hammer home the message for me to feel more than disappointed at a film that so many people love. I think they should've spent more time developing the main characters so the audience feels more of a connection to them, rather than having the audience feel like a new arrival having to pick up bits and pieces as they go along. Maybe it fell victim to me seeing many people raving over it that my expectations were too high. Or, that I haven't seen more than a passing glimpse at the later tv series.
I did really enjoy Donald Sutherland and Elliott Gould.
