Review of M*A*S*H (1970) by Becca E — 08 Mar 2009
A statement about Vietnam delivered in a movie about the Korean War. This film is an anti-war slap in the face to the establishment and authority in the armed forces. People that follow the rules are treated as the oddballs.
This movie is hilarious, and is a classic. It is hard for people to set aside what they know about the television series, and truely enjoy this film. Don't get hung up on the fact that you have to re-recognize all the characters.
This film is three or four short stories woven together, so it never goes stale. There is no moral to this film, which is to say there are many morals. 1. You can do you job well and still have fun. 2.
Conforming to establishment gets you nowhere. 3. Make the most of any situation. I could go on and on. Everybody will come away with something different. It's funny, it's bloody, it's crowded, and solid entertainment that is just as relevant today as it was back in 1970.
