M*A*S*H is one of the best American comedies ever made. Ferocious, and completely original, it's a black comedy of the highest order. The laughs don't stop. The movie's anti-war message is ever prevalent, but kept as an undertone to the comedy.
Donald Sutherland gives a pitch-perfect performance as Hawkeye, the sly army surgeon who, along with his surgical team, are only trying to make the most of their gruesome job. A true masterpiece, that is just as funny and controversial now as it was fourty years ago.
