I must have really been into the sitcom as a kid. I remember the first time I saw the original film and was super disappointed Alan Alda wasn't in it. Donald Sutherland meant nothing to me at that point, if only I'd seen him smack a cat to death into a wall (as in 1900), then maybe my 10-15 year old self would have appreciated him more. Clearly I was less bothered about the Wayne Rogers/Elliott Gould dichotomy, which is surprising given how great Gould is.

Anyway, I really haven't seen this in years and I absolutely adored it this time round. Very funny, super un-pc (even before they introduce a black character nicknamed spear-chucker) and a simply glorious way to spend 110 minutes. 110 mins? I could watch this for 6,150. Very few comedy films push 2 hrs, even fewer which involve a honest-to-god funny american football game as the 20min finale.

My only complaint is a technical one, sound on my 'special edition' was awful, clipping like a madman, especially during the music bits. Which is a shame cause I really like the tunes played over the PA system from Toyko.
