Review of M*A*S*H (1970) by Adrian B — 06 Mar 2011
Robert Altman's hit from 1970 is an extremely desperate and frantic comedy, and under these circumstances, it succeeeds. It is about naval base stationed in South Korea during the war in the early 1950's, and follows the lives a number people found at the establishment.
The cast in this film, like Altman's "Nashville," is huge, and includes Elliot Gould, Donald Sutherland, Robert Duvall, and Helen Kelerman. It is a crazy comedy, and it is little dated, but despite its age, it does provide some good laughs and fine lines.
One particular scene is when Kelerman and Duvall's characters makeout and their dialogue is broadcasted over radio throughout the base. It is a silly film and not everything works but it is a good one.
