Review of Masculin Féminin (1966) by Bob V — 13 Nov 2010
Another Godart, but years later. His movies never have "conversation", all dialogue instead feels like an interview or examination. Masculin Feminin pushes this to the limit, with all the characters practically cross-examining each other.
A stark, bleak view of youth in France during the 60's, the film is perhaps best summarized with one of the caption titles (loosely translated, because I can't be bothered) :
This movie's title could have been: "The children of Marx & Coca Cola.".
