Review of Mary Shelley's Frankenstein (1994) by Dan D — 17 Aug 2010
The main problem with Mary Shelley's Frankenstein is that it tries to hard to match up to the film Bram Stoker's Dracula. In some respects, it come close but not near enough in the end. De Niro and Branagh shine in their roles, but the production value seems a bit low when Frankenstein's machines are not present and everything seems a bit melodramatic, not to mention that most of the other actors don't try as hard as its two leads.
Nevertheless, the film still also succeeds in being thrilling and scary.
