The costuming is delicious in this film, and the acting is quite wonderful. This is a bit more speculative fiction than a period piece that takes care with accuracy, but it was an interesting take on what might have happened.

I liked the messaging here, and I wonder if many men are reacting to it so strongly because it treats them as peripheral bit players, often the way that women are treated in historical films.
