Every single musical number made me wish to watch the original instead. As for the song themselves, nothing to write home about either, but that could be the fault of the translation of the lyrics to spanish, I dont know.
Also, the world of Mary Poppins seems to belong to an age of the past (with the manual street lighting and all that), yet racism was not a problem for anyone, not even the evil bank director, who had hired a black lawyer to visit white people's homes with eviction notices.
Good thing the black dude was the only decent human being among the evil team, too. Oh, and one of the main characters was a social activist for workers rights aganst evil capitalism. Maybe it was just me, but I found all this distracting and spoon-feed.
It is not that in a Mary Poppins kind film I am expecting to see a portrayal of racism, but shoehorning social justic in a film isnt either my cup of tea. Also, I found Mary Poppins to be unlikeable, unlike the original one.
The film seems fond of having the characters struggling against situations, only to reveal their struggles are for naught, because the end result would have been the same anyway. So Mary Poppins manipulates the Big Ben and there was no need to climb it and finding the certificate was useless, because the old director would have step in all the same to save the day.
Talk about pointless.
