Mary Poppins was a great musical film perfectly acted by the majority of the cast. A lot of these negative reviews are clearly from people who didn't know what kind of movie Mary Poppins was. Clearly if you don't enjoy musicals you will not enjoy this film but for those that do, you should find this one enjoyable.
It includes a few callbacks to the original and I believe it definitely does it justice. The downside is that no songs are as memorable as "Spoonful of Sugar" or "Supercalifragilisticexpialidocious".
Should be a great film to get children into musicals either way though.
