Having seen mixed reviews and had experienced many other dreadful remakes I was prepared for the worse but was pleasantly surprised. It is a really good film. It is charming, happy - delightful. For children of all ages.
It is not a remake of the 1965 classic. It is Variations on a Theme of Mary Poppins. For once I do not hate CGI. I now see it can be used for Good as well as for Evil. And toward the fairytale happy ending I was lazily under its spell but I shot upright in my seat with (especially), its first Surprise.
(There is a second one). At the first one I thought - is it? No, it can't be, can it? Am I imagining it? But it was! My rule is never to give a film 5 stars. So I don't give it 5 stars. I have to give it - on this one and only occasion - six stars! Some of the recent Disney's efforts have been poor.
They got this one right!
