Review of Mary Poppins Returns (2018) by Josh W — 19 Dec 2018

I went to see MPR without any preconceived ideas of comparing it to the Julie Andrews classic because I haven't seen the 1964 film in many years. I just sat down and let the sweeping overture flow over me during the opening credits and was tossed into to the magical world of good old fashioned musicals without having an agenda to compare everything to the original.

I found the new movie to be thoroughly entertaining from beginning to end. The music was catchy, the visuals were magnificent, and there was Emily Blunt. The perfectly cast Emily Blunt. Emily Blunt who always gives a stellar performance, but who embodies this movie with such gusto that she made me miss her in every scene she wasn't in.

I will see it again and again.
