I was 11 years old when I saw the original. Of course as a kid I adored it and was a fan for life. Seeing Mary Poppins Returns was a nervous step I took. I really was not expecting to like it all that much. Perhaps because my expectations was so low made me actually love it. Yes it could be considered old fashion by many, but that is really the charm of the film.
The audience in the theater really got into the spirit of it with applause after many of the musical numbers. When do you ever get that in today's movies?
I had a grand time to say the least..
