Review of Mary and Max (2009) by James-Masaki R — 06 May 2011
With a clay-animated movie dealing with loneliness, isolation, Asperger Syndrome, and pen pals, you know it's going to be different. As good as it was, there will be some detractors, as the main characters are not exactly 'likeable', and the style is even more bizarre than Tim Burton would want.
I still think it is an excellent work in animation, a more emotional tale through innocence than anything else, chronicling 2 pen pals' correspondence over 20 plus years.
