Review of Mary and Max (2009) by Mark B — 06 Jan 2012
Wasn't 100% sure what to expect when I started watching, but from the opening credits I was totally lured into the story. In fact after about 10mins I forgot I was watching an animation altogether.
Knowing folk who have Aspergers, the portrayal of Max was spot on - bringing out the troubles 'aspies' have without mocking them. Mary's journey through teen hood, into marriage and out the other side is again tastefully and intelligently worked.
Overall this is a funny, clever, poignant and heart warming film that has become a 'must see' reccome ration to my friends. One of the best films I have seen in years.
