Review of Marwencol (2010) by Gaz J — 29 Apr 2011
It's remarkable how both psychological and physical wounds can be healed in the process of creating art. What is even more extraordinary is Mark Hogancamp's story of how he was able to use his imagination to recover after a brutal attack, nine day coma, and total loss of memory and fine motor function.
His sensitivity to detail and emotion are displayed in his fictional creation of Marwencol. While completing the MAT, several folks raised their eyebrows at my research on art therapy. I wish this film had been around then.
