Review of Marvin's Room (1996) by Quinn B — 26 Jan 2011
It isn't like most DiCaprio movies where it is either action packed or messed up/crazy. Marvin's Room tells the story of 2 sisters who led completely different lives. One looked after their sick father well the other just looks out for herself.
In the midst of this there are also 2 sons of Lee(Streep). This is where DiCaprio pops in. Although his character isn't exciting in any way, he does play a very interesting character. He is in the mental institution, and very rarely gets visited by his mother.
Once they go see his Aunt Bessy(Keaton) he figures out the meaning of love, and they quickly form a strong bond. Throughout this movie it shows you the struggle of 2 sisters and a boy who really just wants someone to care for him.
This was a great film of its kind. It is not my favourite DiCaprio film, but it was very good.
