A strangely beautiful and violent.
Story of an ill-fated and doomed friendship/love affair between two young French women who share a tragic abusive past. Before you begin watching you need to check all common sense.
at the door. It reminded me of a "Hostel"type movie with heart. It will most likely cause your corresponding body part to ache as you watch in horror all that the women must endure.I can't describe much more without giving away important plot twists and spoilers. Trust me- if you enjoy dark foreign horror movies that are not your run of the mill fare, you'll love this movie. It won't leave you feeling warm and fuzzy, but the reason the French women are abused will haunt you for at least a good week or two! If you didnt like, or like me, hated the movie " Hostel" dont let my mentioning of it keep you from this movie. If you've seen Hostel you know that it has no warmth, no beauty, no love- it's just cold calculated killing for no other reason than to spill blood and guts- for shock value, I guess. Remember I described "Martyrs" as having heart. I only enjoy movies with lots of torture, gore, and killing if there is still something or someone to care about- and I ended up empathizing for the two young French soul mates in this very original and disturbing love story.
