Review of Martyrs (2008) by Geoff A — 14 Apr 2010
This was terrible. The movie is too sick and too real to be a horror movie of the classic sort. I couldn't stop thinking about the four 8-year-old and 17-year Belgian girls who were kidnapped and thrown in a small dark cell while being tortured until they were left starving to death.
That happened for real in the year 1996 and it is probably still happening somewhere at this very moment. So to me this movie was so shocking because I know it happened before and there is no fiction left in this horror movie.
Also I was hardly scared during the movie, I was just plainly angry because I can't stand useless violence like this. And the end of the movie was so incredibly... untrue. And then the main question: why didn't she call the police and the ambulance while she was still outside?.
.. Always the same question in bad movies isn't it?
