Review of Martyrs (2008) by Steve M — 03 Aug 2011
I knew what they were going for when the last 40 minutes began. I have to Admit. It is not special at all; not only on a shock level but the justification it tries to give for such cinematic Turmoil. Sometimes life is not pretty; This is why we go to the movies.
Just Alongside "Irreversible" and other similar titles that some would regard as art, I found ZERO pleasure in this. Documentaries would serve a greater purpose for those interested in the immense suffering of human beings and would most likely embody more truthfulness. This is a major disappointment and is NOT horror. Movies such as these should not be classified this way. I Pity those who find this to be entertainment.
