Hail Satan for New French Extremity. Movies like Martyrs, as well as High Tension and Inside, are reinventing horror in a way that I'm loving.

Like other movies of this genre, Martyrs will have you dying to know what happens next. It starts off as a fast paced action movie with plenty of unanswered questions, then morphs into a torture porn in which some of the questions are answered, but new one are presented. The ending is also awesome, as it gives you something to further think about.

I watch a lot of horror films, and often assume I'm desensitized. However, there's a scene in this film that I can honestly say had me scared. The lengths the French are going to break taboos is great, and I can only hope they go further.
