The ending is mind-boggling in a way that's enjoyable, prompting further viewings. But the parts in between are equally enjoyable, heart-rending, and repugnant. The torture scenes at the end get it right: brutal, dehumanizing, and in its sheer repetitiveness, it all seems to blend together into a surreal nightmare.
