Review of Martyrs (2008) by Anthony F — 04 Nov 2010
A made in France horror film that was the first movie since a long time that made me check under the bed before sleeping.
Actually, I slept quite easily but for sur Martyr is one of horror movies that describe possible events that can occur in your neighborhood's house.
Hard to tell about the oppressive atmosphere around the film without betray the plot core.
The end is quite dissapointing looking to its short finish, but it's almost an obligation in that case. Well, for sure, you feel in lacks of informations about what was told about the vision of the dead at the end ; but would be satisfied of an exotic answer at the question "what did she saw when she reached the state of martyr ?". Don't think so.
Of course, as any horror movie, if you really want to feel it as it deserve don't even do the washing up at the same time, just turn off all the light, wait for the second part of the evening and watch alone... you'll observe a better impact.
