Review of Martyrs (2008) by Patric C — 17 Sep 2011
To be honest, I felt humbled after watching this film. Whereas comparable films such as A Serbian Film are self-reflective, and Salo (120 Days of Sodom) may be a straight out endurance test, Martyrs explores on screen extreme violence on a purely emotional level.
Terrifically acted and shot, Martyrs becomes a film that is entirely unique, and in many ways beyond description.
