Martyrs is well acted and skilfully filmed, and boasts an incredibly tense and frightening first hour, but begins to fall a bit flat in its ambitious and relatively interesting, but overall forced, repetitive, tedious and out of place final act.
Its much more thought provoking and emotionally resonant then other horror films, making it easy to recommend to someone that's able to stomach the films violent nature.
