Leave it to the French to make "torture porn" into a brutal yet extremely well-produced rumination on spirituality, transcendence, and martyrdom--or the lack thereof. A punishing, unsettling experience equal parts HELLRAISER, HOSTEL, & THE PASSION OF JOAN OF ARC.
If you dig the current "extreme horror" movement then this is the sort of you'll dig--not a film easily recommended for the general filmgoer.
