My first thought while watching this movie was to wonder what the big fuss was about. This won an Oscar? But then after a while, I was convinced that it was really a quality movie. Not everything needs to be a sprawling, 2 and a half hour epic to be the best movie of the year.
Marty has a great script and fantastic performances, especially by Ernest Borgnine. A very understated movie.
