Review of Marty (1955) by Sam B — 07 Feb 2010
Just saw this movie last week and I really loved it. An unknown fact is that Ernest Borgnine won Best actor for this movie. What makes the movie so great is that Marty is such a believable character. Throughout the movie, you feel sorry for him whenever he says he is unwanted or depressed.
The only fault I found was that I don't think the movie's ending was wrapped up well. I was hoping for an extra twenty minutes showing Marty making his mother feel better, and showing him with his girlfriend.
But, then again this movie was filmed during the height of the Hollywood studio system, so the movie probably had to be a certain time. But in conclusion, I loved the movie and highly recommend it.
