Review of Martian Child (2007) by Patrick S — 01 Sep 2008
Martian Child tries to pull on your heart strings, and for the most part it manages to get a good grip on them. But in some cases it has the grip of a seventy yearold with Carple Tunnel Syndrome. John Cusack has been better, he's also been a lot worse (don't get me wrong, he's one of my favorites) but at certain points his performance seemed a little lacking.
Amanda Peet was adorable as always and Joan Cusack did a great job playing... you guessed it John's sister. The film makes use of montage repeatidly, which is neat but a rather cheap way to build a so called relationship between Cusack and the child.
