Review of Martian Child (2007) by Joanne L — 13 Aug 2011
An unusual and intriguing look into parenting and being a kid. John Cusack stars as a widowed science fiction writer who begins to take steps to adopt a kid - twist is, the kid he's drawn to thinks he's from Mars.
Absolutely brilliant and tugs at the heart strings. A great way to remember that kids tend to feel alone and alienated and that parents need to recognize that, but that kids need to remember that parents have feelings and they get hurt sometimes too.
Indeed, "sometimes we forget that children have just arrived on the earth. They are a little like aliens, coming into beings as bundles of energy and pure potential, here on some exploratory mission and they are just trying to learn what it means to be human.
" And no could argue with loving someone who's already here... not at all!
