Review of Martha Marcy May Marlene (2011) by Cale B — 10 Apr 2012
Masterfully crafted and excruciatingly haunting, director T. Sean Durkin has created a disturbing, yet gripping, screenplay and executed it perfectly on the screen with effective simple cinematography.
He's consistent with themes and the final product is nothing short of a mindf*ck. Elizabeth Olsen carried this film from beginning to end, but the supporting performances, specifically from the always spot-on John Hawkes, add to the film's perfection.
