Review of Marshall (2017) by Evelyn U — 12 Oct 2017
I expected this to be about Thurgood Marshall arguing Brown v. board in the Supreme Court, and it wasn't. It was about one early case that he took, and which he couldn't even actively participate in.
Instead a Jewish guy who had never tried a criminal case took the lead, while Marshall guided him every step of the way. It had a lot of humor, and it kept me engrossed the whole way through. I may have been the only white person in the theater, and it was interesting to watch it in the company of about 200 African-American women of about my age (ie old) who had come together on buses to see it.
I can tell you that they loved it--cheers and clapping! I was puzzled by the fact that the producers behind the film seemed to be Chinese. Anyhow, it told a great story very well. Recommended.
