Review of Marshall (2017) by Tim M — 31 Oct 2017
'Marshall' journeys into the mind of Supreme Court justice Thurgood Marshall when he was a lawyer fighting for equal rights with the NAACP. Chadwick Boseman transcends time to become Marshall and does so with grace and humor. His acting was a thing to behold. One can only hope a movie like this could be an inspiration to anyone who takes the time to watch and think about how far we've come as a society and how far we still need to go. Never does the movie beat you over the head with opinions, but instead presents a fair and perhaps too fair approach to how slanted the criminal justice system was. Go in with an open attitude and be enlightened by one of the most progressive Americans to live.
This is a courtroom drama almost from jump, but one with a story that captivates and it's important to take in the entire process from jury selection to the verdict. Marshall's brain is what stands out and how he thinks. If he played poker you wouldn't want to bluff at him. Final Score: 8.3/10.
