A wonderful movie! I took my son and daughter, ages 7 & 6 and my son's friend age 8 and they all LOVED IT! I am not a "movie critic" by any stretch of the imagination....I am the average Mom who was looking for a movie to enjoy with my family, and I am am thrilled that we did go and see this dispite all of the negative reviews.
Apparently, the people writing the reviews must not have children, or young children that they took with them to the movie, so I do not think that they can possibly grasp the affect that the movie has on a "family".
The experience for us was amazing!! My children were in tears, and so was I! Is this a movie that teenagers are going to see when dropped off by their parents, or a lonely single person going in to just watch a movie? NO.
..but I don't think that is what Disney intended it to be either. This is a wonderful FAMILY movie that actually has some meaning behind the story. It is so hard to find anything these days that has a true "moral of the story" type message, and "Mars needs Moms" is just that type of message that we need in today's society!!! Yes, I am that Mom in the movie, and at least for a few moments I felt completely appreciated.
..and my kids GOT IT :).
