Review of Mars Needs Moms (2011) by Mad M — 13 Dec 2011
Mars Needs Moms looks stunning for the most part. It made me tear up at the end and it tells a decent story. The pacing and overall plot could've done with some serious reconstruction, and the film is so awkwardly plotted out at times that some scenes feel awkward or like there is something missing, where in a normal film you wouldn't even notice a new scene has begun.
I don't understand the negativity towards the animation; The character models and environments looked incredibly realistic. The dialogue was lacking, and some of the scenes were have the characters blatantly stating to themselves what was made obvious by what they were showing on the screen, I suppose in fear that kids would not understand what was going on.
Overall, Mars Needs Moms is a forgettable, albeit heart filled movie that unfortunately bombed at the box office and made Disney cancel their production for a remake of Yellow Submarine.
