Review of Mars Attacks! (1996) by Corey B — 05 Feb 2011
A film where you have to shut your brain off to watch, or if you are a kid you can just enjoy it. It is amazing how many stars are in this movie. I have never seen Jack Black look so thin as he does here.
It's a fun movie that pays homage to the 40s and 50s sci fi invasion movies and also offers a instant parody of Independence Day. Portman playing the 'goth' daughter like in Beetlejuice is, the Burton formula at work.
Outside of the Batman films and Beetlejuice, this is my favourite Burton film.
