Mars Attacks! is an extremely cheesy and choppy movie that is not meant to be taken seriously. With that being said, Mars Attacks! is a funny movie with legitimately good action scenes. The point of this movie was to recreate old fashioned cheesy and chliche horror films, which this movie does a good job of.
The aliens are hillarious, but can sometimes be a little creepy and menacing. The action scenes are not at all well done or realistic, but they are not supposed to be taken seriously. Finally the performances by Jack Nicholson and the other actors are solid and yet funny at the same time.
Overall, Mars Attacks! is a very hard movie to review. Whether you hate it or love it depends on what you find funny and what you find unfunny. If parody/spoof comedy is what you like, you will get a kick out of this movie.
Otherwise, this makes for a pretty decent sci-fi/action film. Whether this movie is good or not is all based on opinion.
