If you are in the mind set for a glossy remake of 1950's alien invasion sci-fi ,complete with period designs and huge headed martians in glass domes, there is much to admire and enjoy in Burton's silly romp.

Part of the movies perceived failure was people were't expecting such a retro pastiche and maybe that was the directors fault. For me it was a highly enjoyable throw back to those campy stylized movies i'd watch on late night TV.
