Review of Mars Attacks! (1996) by Jacob S — 12 Oct 2012
After making Ed Wood, it seems like Tim Burton wanted to make his own Woodsian sci-fi movie. Is it silly? Yes. Does it tell a good story? Not really. Is it enjoyable to watch? I thought so. I give Burton a bit of a pass on this one since Mars Attacks! is supposed to be stupid and corny.
Making a chilling sci-fi movie wasn't his goal. Much like the Rodriguez/Tarantino Grindhouse movies, if you go into it accepting it for what it's meant to be, you can still have a good time with it.
