Review of Mars Attacks! (1996) by Derence R — 01 Jul 2011
> > > Tim Burton is one of the most popular mainstream filmmakers in the world. Jack Nicholson is definitely one of the greatest living actors. And "Mars Attacks!" is undeniably the worst movie I've seen toplining Nicholson, and directed Burton.
- Green, huge-headed, gibberishly talking aliens from Mars visit Earth only to blast their toy-like laser guns, and spread chaos everywhere. By that, characters of all sorts, each with outrageously terrible scenes, fight for petty and pitiful survival.
- Boosted with an all-star cast that include the likes of Rod Steiger, Glenn Close, Pierce Brosnan, Annette Bening, Danny DeVito, Martin Short, Pam Grier, Jack Black, Natalie Portman, Michael J. Fox, and for shame's sake, Tom Jones; this cheeseball sci-fi flick of disastrous proportions is a gigantic pile of garbage. Neither it's funny nor entertaining but full of stupidity.
> BestMoment:
- The desert genocide. Specifically, the blasting of Jack Black's character.
> BestQuote:
- "When the Martians land, will the press have access? Can we do interviews?".
