In 1949, a successful business man falls in love with a younger woman, but can't bear the pain it will cause his needy wife. So he devises a more "merciful" way to spare her. All goes well until a friend starts to meddle.
Film follows a noir archetype until the tepid unsatisfactory ending, and the actors are not on the same level as Cooper.
