Review of Marnie (1964) by Amjad A — 16 Oct 2011
I will go on record and say, anyone who doesn't appreciate the film Marnie, probably doesn't appreciate cinema. The film was dismissed and ignored when released by Hitchcock, as critics deemed it to be unworthy.
I personally believe this film today is considered more of a classic than it ever was, and has since become a favourite of mine. It may not be in the same league, as "The Birds or North by Northwest", but Marnie is filled with many Hitchcock themes, brilliant moments, and superb performances.
It was also the last film which featured a score from the great Bernard Herrman. I advice this film highly for anybody who has not watched it yet. It is incredibly enjoyable. A VERY SOLID 4.0/5.
